1957 FORD T-BIRD H-CODE

1957 Ford T-Bird This poor Bird has seen some bett er days. Unfortunately, sh e's been cooped up since the 90's. Originally coming out of the factory in Bronze metallic, with a white top over a Bronze vinyl interior, in the mid 80's she was restored to this red and black combo, with a black and white interior. She was driven very little and then sold to the brother in law of the current owner. He drove it for awhile and then sold it to the current owner, it was registered and driven a little more and then for reasons unknown, she was driven into a garage around 1991 and she's been there ever since. Luckily, the garage had a concrete floor and the car was moved in and out in order to get other cars in for various needs, but roughly 20 years ago, most activity stopped at the garage and even the garage fell under disrepair. Just recently the roof of the garage fell in and a rafter bumped up against the right door. The car was pulled out, cleaned off and at this point in her life, it's been decided to let her fly off to another owner. The body is in very good condition, no rust or rot, even the frame and suspension pieces have very little surface rust. The odometer shows just over 2000 miles and that is believed to be correct since the restoration. The real shame here is the paint. Lots of it peeling off. The rest of the car is solid enough, even the interior, that one might consider getting her up and running and drive her in a patina'd state. But the paint is, for me at least, beyond that point. Another issue is the engine doesn't really turn by hand. I was able to get a little budge but not enough for me to say she turns by hand. She is an H code 312 with 4 barrel though, routed through a Fordomatic auto transmission. The 312 was rebuilt and still shines underneath. She should be pushing out 245 HP and up over 350 lb ft of twist. The interior is in OK condition, the seat and door cards are cleanable/restorable, there are some lumps in the dash and a bunch of the chrome bits have pitting. The top is also in surprisingly good condition with one small mouse chew that has been taped. My heart really wants to see her cleaned up, running and just driving. Reality probably speaks a different story. In such overall solid condition though, another resto on her would be fairly straight forward. The family is asking $8000 for her as she sits. She is sold on a CT Q1/Bill of Sale and Ownership Affidavit. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, for many more photos, to schedule an inspection or to make an offer. Thanks for the interest!
