General Motors hit the ground running to compete with the success of the Ford Mustang By introducing their own pony cars the Chevrolet Camaro and its cousin the Firebird. This fourth generation Firebird Formula was produced from 1993-2002. Major improvements in this generation were dual airbags, rack and pinion steering, 16 -inch wheels, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, and composite body panels. The return of the functional dual inlet ""Ram Air"" hoods returned in 1996 on WS6 Firebirds and Trans Am models.
