I HAVE NOTHING ON ENGINE REBUILD. I DONT SEE WHERE ANY BODY REPAIRS HAD EVER BEEN DONE FOR DENTS OR RUST. PAINT IS REALLY NICE AND SHE DRIVES OUT GREAT. EVERYTHING IS WORKING. IT DOES HAVE FRONT DISC BRAKES THAT WORK GREAT WITH THAT ORIGINAL TYPE MASTER CYLINDER. BELOW IN SMALL PRINT IS WHAT LAST DEALER SAID ABOUT IT ON HIS WEBSITE WHEN SOLD IN 2021 TO THE LATE OWNER WE BOUGHT FROM. What a beautiful 61 Chevy Impala SS 409 Bubble Top. Without a build sheet or any original documentation, it's impossible to prove this to be a factory original 409. However, the car has been restored and modified to be very, very close to the real thing. In 2010, when next to last owner bought the car, he took it to a very reputable shop and had the car completely redone to the tune of just over $30,000. We have the 10 page invoice and photos to show the work done. Nothing was overlooked on this car. Everything was done to 61 Impala specifications. One example of the quality work done, was to remove the old power steering components, and gear box, and install a complete new power steering gear box, drag link, PSCV, ram, brackets, hoses, etc, all done per the 1961 Impala assembly manual. The shop also disassembled the Super T-10 transmission and completely rebuilt it with all correct parts. All wiring harnesses were replaced, the shifter was repositioned to the correct location. The invoice is extremely detailed. The paint and interior were done before the owner purchased the car. The paint still looks great. Chevrolet built approximately 491,000 Impalas in 1961. A mere 453 were Super Sports and only 142 of those were equipped with the 409. This car was an instant collectible the year it was built. That is what makes even the recreations worth so much today. If you are able to find one of the 142 of these original Impala SS 409s, you will probably pay in the 6 figures for it. There are really no words to describe the 61 bubble top. These cars were just beautiful. It will be a show winner for sure. Come take a look at it. There is a slight fade on the back of the driver's seat and the package tray is slightly warped. the rest of the interior looks fantastic. The overhead courtesy lights work with the passenger door, but not the driver's side. The under sides of the doors and underbody have no sign of any rust at all. One nice feature added to this Impala is the bow tie emblem below the grille, is the hood release lever. This 409 QD coded block is from a 63 Chevy truck, casting 984422. These blocks are getting harder to find. Quite a few of the truck blocks are being used to recreate the original 409/425hp engines.
