Go Racing in a Hyundai Veloster N TCR for $155,000

Its one thing to hire a racing dynamics celebrity like Hyundai did with former BMW M honcho Albert Biermann ; its quite another to keep him interested and happy. Developing a legit hot hatch N version of Europes Elantra GT and Americas Veloster was undoubtedly nice and all, as was tuning the truly 3 Series-competitive Genesis G70 chassis. But were guessing he really got jazzed by watching Bryan Herta Autosport win the TCR Team Championship in the 2018 Pirelli World Challenge series during its freshmen season running the i30 N TCR cars Biermanns team helped develop. Now Hyundai has signed a new contract with Bryan Herta Autosportthis time to serve as the North American point of sale for the new Veloster N TCR turn-key race car for privateers hoping to up their odds in this seasons Pirelli World Challenge and the newly named IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series. The Veloster N TCR was developed by the same Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing Team that developed the championship-winning i30 N TCR with which the Veloster version shares 85 percent of its essential components. Chief among these is its 350-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Like the i30, it will be built at Hyundai Motorsport Headquarters in Alzenau, Germany, and adhere to the TCR touring car spec that's been adopted by a number of racing series around the globe. The price will be $155,000 plus shipping. Hyundai has pledged to support teams in both the PWC and IMSA series, with participating teams qualifying for contingency payout purse money at each 2019 race in either series. The series start in January 2019. The post Go Racing in a Hyundai Veloster N TCR for $155,000 appeared first on Motor Trend .
