The challenge this week is to design and fabricate a custom spoiler for a 1969 Chevy Camaro in five hours, and the spoiler must be ready for the body shop by the end. Dave Kindig has stressed again and again how important being a team player is during the competition, and hes drilling it down hard this time. Dave and Kevin split the contestants into two teams, but instead of letting the teams organize themselves, the judges have picked the team leaders ahead of time. At Kindig-it Design, each aspect of a custom car build is done by a specific teamfabrication, paint and body, upholstery , etc.and the leaders of each of those teams are responsible for the whole groups output, good or bad. We all succeed, or we all fail together, Dave says. This weeks challenge isnt just about which team builds the best spoiler; how each contestant plays their role in their team is just as big a factor when the judges decide who goes home. --> This just doesnt seem to sink in for Patrick Laughlin. He is a very skilled fabricator to be sure, but Dez Ferrell was chosen to lead his team, and he never let her take the lead. During the design phase of the challenge, he was the first to speak, insisting they build his design, and he never backed down. Throughout the challenge, he repeatedly left his tasks to micromanage Dez and Justin Culver (his other teammate), even going so far as to take tools out of Dezs hands to help her with what she was doing. His team lost the spoiler challengetheir spoiler didnt fit the Camaro trunk lid and had no mounting systemand Patrick was the driving force behind those choices. Dave and Kevdogg dont mind a strong personality, but Patrick failed to stick to his role in this weeks challenge, and because of that, the judges dismissed him from Bitchin Boot Camp . The crew at Kindig-it Design is over 30 people strong, and they are all skilled at their jobs but, most importantly, they all work well together. Week 4 Bitchin Boot Camp Power Rankings Dez Ferrell: Dez has been on the losing side of the main challenges two weeks in a row. She couldnt contend with Patricks strong personality, and her skill as a fabricator might not be up the standard Kindig-it Design is looking for. Justin Culver: Justin was a solid team player this week, but he still found himself in the bottom three. Hes going to have to start making his presence known if he wants to make it to the end of this competition. Frank Fannelli: Frank doesnt ever let anything affect his positive attitude. As probably the best team player in Bitchin Boot Camp , his inexperience doesnt seem to be holding him back as much as in the beginning of the competition. Jaime Hjelm: Jaime led her team to victory this week by listening to her teammates every step of the way and directing them appropriately. Shes proven to be a key member in every team shes worked in and that she can take the lead when necessary. But is that enough to take home the overall win? Briana Huhn: Brianas excellent welding skills were on display again this week with her teams spoiler. Despite her teams worries about heat warping, she executed most of the welding with near perfection. Does anyone in Bitchin Boot Camp have what it takes to knock her off the top?
