Most Valuable Movie Cars on the Planet

Cars featured in movies are arguably just asif not morefamous than the celebrity actors using them as props. Hidden defense mechanisms, incredible stunts, or simply an actor gracing the vintage vinyl with the back of their suit is enough to garner infamy. Those factors also contribute to sky-high collector prices, as illustrated in a recently published study from CompareTheMarket.com . They compared the prices of 10 iconic film cars when new to their value now, and as you can imagine, the numbers have gotten a whole lot bigger over the years. On top of the list is the 1963 Aston Martin DB5 famously driven by James Bond portrayed by Sean Connery in Goldfinger. At the time of the films debut, the production version of this super-spy hot rod retailed for $5,511, a good chunk of coin for the time. In second place behind 007 is the 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang from the 2000 iteration of Gone in 60 Seconds , of which the non-Eleanor version cost $4,195, and rounding out the top 3 is Eleanors granddaddy, the 1968 GT390 driven by Steve McQueen. That car retailed for $3,500 in 1968. Since their films debuted on screen, these cars have appreciated by 11,154, 4,134, and 1,200 percent, respectively. Based on a variety of different transactions, these cars run around $620,229, $178,200, and 80,745 today. This particular 1968 fastback Mustang is the best preserved of the two remaining movie cars from Bullitt. It was on display during the launch of the 2019 Bullitt Mustang at the Detroit Auto Show in 2018. The other car is still known to be in Baja California, Mexico under ownership of someone unwilling to part with the car. 1970 Dodge Charger from The Fast and the Furious 1981 DMC DeLorean from the Back to the Future trilogy 1966 Ford Thunderbird from Thelma and Louise 1963 VW Beetle from Herbie 1977 Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit 1964 Lincoln Continental from National Lampoons Animal House 1977 Chevrolet Camaro from the Transformers franchise The post Most Valuable Movie Cars on the Planet appeared first on Hot Rod Network .
