84-Mile 1990 Lamborghini Countach For Sale By Owner Who Keeps Buying It Back

Its 1990 and the world is your oyster. What to do? Maybe go off to the record store and pick up that Nirvana album from last summer everyones still talking about? How about catching a showing of Driving Miss Daisy ? It just won Best Picture at the Oscars. Or why not check out what new product the local Lamborghini dealer has in store? Those Countach 25th Anniversary Edition models are supposed to be real stunners. Fortunately, you dont need to travel back in time to see the Countach in its original glory, as Lamborghini Montreal in Quebec, Canada has a near-new 1990 Countach 25th Anniversary Edition model sitting in its showroom. With a mere 135 kilometers on its odometer (about 84 miles) and the original plastic wrapping still on its cream-colored seats, this black Lambo is about as close as youll get to seeing a factory-fresh Countach from 30 years ago. Despite its low miles, this Italian bull has actually changed hands a couple of times, according to Bernard Durand of Lamborghini Montreal. In an e-mail, Durand shared with MotorTrend that this Countach was one of five such Lamborghinis brought into the dealers inventory back in 1990. Unfortunately, interest in the Countach was past its peak at that time. Rather than sell the cars at a loss, John Scotti, the owner of Lamborghini Montreal (as well as John Scotti Automotive), decided to keep all five V-12 Lamborghinis. While he eventually found homes for four of the cars, Scotti decided to hold onto this black Countach for himself. After some time, though, Scotti sold the car to a well-regarded client of his, only to purchase it back several years laterstill in like-new condition. Another similar transaction resulted in Scotti once-again selling the Countach only to once again buy it back; its condition no different from before. --> Now, Scotti seems ready to rid himself of this 449-hp mid-engined monster for good. Hes not selling it for nothing, though, and the cars $799,900 asking price is more than five times that of a Countach 25th Anniversary Edition we tested back in July 1990 . Factoring in inflation since 1990, however, that list price is merely two and a half times the original's. Still, how often do you have the chance to purchase an essentially brand-new 30-year-old supercar? Plus, if history proves anything, theres a good chance Scotti will buy it back from you if you grow tired of the car. Then again, itd take a pretty hyperactive mind to get bored of taking in this machines wild design details and 5.2-liter V-12 engine's sonorous song.
